SPONSORSHIPS: RECURRING VERSUS PER SIGNUP
Choosing which sponsorship is a no-brainer for the experienced web master. But for those who are just starting in the sponsorship venture, there are some things to think about. Are you in for quick easy paying accounts or for long term ones? Are you more for the one time sale or the recurring or returning sales?
You can choose from the recurring program or the per-sign up program. In the recurring program, more commonly known as the partnership program, webmasters are paid a certain percentage from the sales they bring in. It depends on the deal which they agreed to have with their sponsor. This may include signups, membership renewals and upsales, as long as it is not a one-time-only sale. With this type of deal, webmasters can get as much as 70% commission. They get a percentage whenever a member renews his membership, or purchases from an upsale. On the other hand, the per signup program, only gives one payment throughout. If a member signs up, you get paid with a fixed amount. Even for multi-membership or for just a full month, the webmaster gets paid only once, since that is still considered as only one sign-up.
Another factor to consider is if you are in to the business for the long term or for the quick cash. It is obviously the per signup option which is the short term. The recurring program is more of the long term one since there is a continued effort to make a sale with the existing customers. You have to make sure that the customers would want to keep on coming back and purchasing more. Aside from the impressions, you have to treat your surfers well so you’ll be sure that they’ll keep on coming back.
If you want to hit it big, try considering these areas -- multiple content and payment options and language and cultural opportunities. In doing so, you will have a wider scope of customers and a higher opportunity for recurring profits.
